1980s display home snapped up after auction in Grovedale

A Grovedale house built as a display home in the early 1980s has been traded for the first time in almost 40 years.

While no bids were forthcoming, an eager young couple stepped inside with real estate agents as soon as the curtain closed on Saturday’s auction.

The owners agreed to sell the four-bedroom residence at 11 Milverton Court later for $730,000 in a deal that was subject to finance for the buyers.

The couple wasn’t the only party interested in the brick veneer residence off Reserve Rd, but Hayeswinckle, Armstrong Creek agent Leigh Fletcher said ultimately timing meant none was able to bid at the auction.

He said another party was unable to purchase unconditionally, while another group had yet to sell their own home.

Yet auctioneer Michelle Winckle said she was confident an offer would be forthcoming as she called for bidders to raise a hand.

The property was offered with price hopes from $725,000 to $775,000.

Spacious living was the order of the day when the house was constructed in the early 1980s.

In the ensuing years, the owners have meticulously maintained the four-bedroom home.

Mr Fletcher said the owners bought the display home soon after it was built.

A spacious formal lounge room with an open fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows look out to a central entertainment area.

The windows continue into the kitchen, which has electric appliances and joins a separate dining area with a gas fireplace. A second living area wraps around the outdoor area, which offers space for a table setting and a gated spa.

The four bedrooms run down one side of the house, sharing a central bathroom and ensuite.

A carport and pergola offer a striking entry to the home.
