It’s the end of an era for 243-game AFL star Michael Rischitelli, who has put his first home up for sale – bought 12 minutes from The Gabba when he was a 21-year-old Brisbane Lion cub.

The veteran for both the Lions and Gold Coast Suns had paid $515,000 for the Cannon Hill house in 2007 and put in a bit of elbow grease to get it up to scratch.

The footy star debuted professionally with the Lions in the 2004 season after being signed as a 17-year-old during the November 2003 national draft. He joined the Gold Coast Suns for the 2011 season after a shock attempt by the Lions to trade him for Brendan Fevola.

Mr Rischitelli ended his professional player days after nine years with the Suns and has lived in Burleigh on the Gold Coast for almost a decade.

His Brisbane house has been up for rent over the past seven years, with prices varying from $585 a week during the pandemic to $675 a week in April this year – putting his gross rental yield around the low to high 6 per cent range.

The Cannon Hill home, which was built in 1960 according to property records, was listed by agents Piers Crawford and Benjamin Austin of Ray White Holland Park-Camp Hill as a “prime investment opportunity”.

“Spanning two levels, this family-friendly home provides ample space and is perfect for a growing family. It features three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and one garage, making it a great fit for a growing family. At the back, a spacious deck is an excellent spot to enjoy refreshing breezes and offers a relaxing retreat.”

The home is close to shopping and dining options in Bulimba as well as the Seven Hills Bushland Reserve walking trails and just 650m from Cannon Hill train station.

The school catchments for the property were Cannon Hill State School and Balmoral State High School, and it was a short drive to private schools Cannon Hill Anglican College, Saint Oliver Plunkett Primary School and Lourdes Hill College.
